Welcome to Postbridge.net


This is a website for Postbridge, a small village in the centre of Dartmoor.

It was created for the benefit of people living in the village and the surrounding area but we hope that it will also be of use to anyone planning a visit to Dartmoor.

Having safely navigated the summer solstice and experienced a couple of sunny days I have changed the website to its summer colours.

Please note that the Post Office Stores are running on their summer hours until 30th September.

This website remains a new venture and is still subject to many changes - even the final article will continue to evolve, depending on the changing needs/events/requirements in Postbridge - and, of course, the input of local people.

The Clapper Bridge

It is believed that the famous Clapper Bridge dates back to the 12th century.  In heavy rain, the East Dart river can rise very quickly from just a trickle to a raging torrent.   The Clapper Bridge has survived many such events and David Cooper, who was just a lad when it was built, remembers them all ☺

The Post Office Stores

The Postbridge Post Office and Village Store is opposite the famous Clapper Bridge.
Cream Teas and other refreshments are available from the shop.  The Shop's opening hours are available here
